Upcoming Events

The Treehouse, a Forest Garden School celebrates the cycles of the year through a rich and vibrant festival life.  Celebrating these festivals helps us to connect with the natural cycle of the Earth and establish a yearly rhythm for our children.  Through these festivals, the school cultivates community among children, teachers, parents and friends.

Festivals help us to nourish our souls through the sharing of stories, food, songs and activities linked to the seasons and expressed with beauty and reverence. In addition to the community-wide festivals listed here, teachers celebrate other festivals in the classroom, including those connected to different cultures being studied.

"A festival has the quality of lifting us out of the ordinary and into the mysteries and magic of the rhythm of the seasons."

~ Hazel Archer Ginsberg

Winter Open House
and Kindergarten Info Session

Saturday, March 7th

Session 1: 9:30-10:30

Session 2: 10:30-11:30

Kindergarten Info Session: 10:30 AM

Join us for our Open House on Saturday, March 7th, with two opportunities to visit and explore The Treehouse. Families may sign up for either the 9:30–10:30 AM session or the 10:30–11:30 AM session. During your visit, our lead teachers and administrative team will be on hand to welcome you, share the space, and answer questions. You’ll have time to explore our indoor classrooms and our 1/3-acre forest garden, which will be open for play. We’ll also be offering simple, hands-on nature activities for children. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be available as you wander, connect, and get a feel for our school community. Stop in and see what makes The Treehouse the right fit for your family. KINDERGARTEN INFO SESSION During our time together, we’ll share how Treehouse kindergarten prepares children to meet key academic benchmarks expected in public first grade, while also strengthening areas that are often under-resourced in traditional settings, including social skills, emotional awareness, self-regulation, love of learning, resilience, creative problem solving, fine and gross motor development, and individualized instruction. Our approach is developmentally appropriate and designed to support confident, capable learners without burnout. Treehouse kindergarten is not simply an alternative to public kindergarten, but a more comprehensive and intentional way to build true school-age readiness—an investment in your child’s long-term success, resilience, and relationship with learning.

Foundations Parent Group:

Building connection and confidence in the early years

March 6th ~ 10:30am - 11:45am
(First Friday of Each Month)

Children Welcome!

Join this FREE COMMUNITY GROUP!!! Parenting in the early years—pregnancy through kindergarten—can be full of joy, challenge, and constant change. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Join us for Foundations Parent Group, a free monthly gathering where parents and caregivers come together to share, listen, and connect. Each session offers space for conversation, reflection, and gentle guidance around common parenting themes. Led by Sydney Steiner, an early childhood teacher and parent support facilitator with over 20 years of experience. Sydney has been leading parent groups since 2011—first with PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) in Seattle, WA, and later with Baby Blues Connection in Portland. These years of experience bring both depth and compassion to the circle, offering a warm, welcoming environment to build strong foundations for your family and lasting connections with other parents. This group is open to all in the community—Treehouse families and beyond.

Rainbow Run Fundraiser

Friday, April 10th

Doors open at 3:30pm

Rainbow Run Begins at 4:00pm

Save the date for a magical and joyful spring event! On Friday, April 10th we will be hosting our annual Fundraiser Run, rain or shine. If we are blessed with refreshing spring rain, we will have tents to keep spectators dry, and the children will still have fun running about in their gear. Date: Friday, April 10th Time: 3:30 pm arrival, running begins at 4:00 pm Location: Treehouse Forest Garden The course is created on the big rolling hill adjacent to the Forest Garden. This event is open to all children! Even the Acorns participate in parents' arms or toddling around the course! We will run in heats based on age group with the oldest Oaks closing up the event. Children are also welcome to have their siblings join them for support! If you have a 4:30 pickup and cannot arrive early, that’s okay. Your child will still participate and we will share plenty of photos and videos afterward. We will celebrate the season of warm sun, cool rain, and new growth. Children are encouraged to come dressed in rainbow colors, flowers, or anything inspired by spring. In the weeks leading up to the run, classes will build excitement with themed activities. Purpose and Goal This year, funds raised will support two meaningful projects that serve children across our school. Little's Garden Expansion (Acorns & Saplings) Our Little Garden serves both our Acorn (0–2) and Sapling (2–3) classes, and we’re excited to enhance this well-loved space so it can support even more year‑round use. We are working toward installing decking over the existing play area to create a level, well‑drained surface, adding a covered warming shelter, and expanding the outdoor classroom for our youngest learners. These improvements will give infants and toddlers additional opportunities to crawl, explore, and build gross‑motor skills while connecting with nature in a space that continues to grow alongside them. The expansion will also strengthen our ability to offer consistent outdoor access throughout the seasons, giving our littlest children the same rich forest‑based experience that defines Treehouse. Cob House in the Forest Garden (Saplings & Oaks) We are also beginning work toward building a cob house in the Forest Garden. Cob is a natural building material made from earth, sand, and straw, aligning beautifully with our ecological values. This structure will become a gathering place for circle time, storytelling, imaginative play, and hands-on learning. It will offer shelter from rain in the winter and shade from the summer sun, allowing us to use our forest classroom more fully in every season. Over time, it will become a living part of our campus. It will become a space where children can help care for, learn from, and grow within. Our goal this year is $5,000. If each child aims to raise $150, we will meet — and potentially exceed — our goal. Every colorful lap helps us build spaces where childhood unfolds — from first steps in the Little Garden to shared stories in the Forest. How You Can Participate Sponsorship Ask grandparents, relatives, friends, and neighbors to sponsor your child’s participation. Donations can be made as a flat contribution. We will provide a pledge form and an online giving option to make this simple. Volunteering We will need volunteers to help with setup, registration, cheering, color stations, and cleanup. Volunteer opportunities will be posted soon. If you are excited to help with decorations or planning details, please reply directly to this email. Attendance Family members and special guests are welcome to attend and cheer on the runners. RSVP details will be shared soon.

Lantern Walk

Thursday, November 6th
4:30pm Social Gathering
5pm Procession Begins
5:45pm Dinner at Gladstone's Pizza

rs=w_984,h_984.webp

Autumn signals a wonderful shift in our seasons of celebrations at Treehouse, and we enter Martinmas Time. Each year in the Fall bleakness, families and teachers gather in the dark of impending winter for the ‘lantern walk’. This yearly event celebrated in Waldorf communities is based on Martinmas; a day to honor Saint* Martin and the message that he shared. The story shares that when Martin was a young man he went about his day as usual but passed a poor, shivering man along his route. On seeing him, the young Martin took his cape from his own shoulders, tore the garment in half and covered the poor man to warm him. The following night Martin had a dream in which he saw an angel* wearing this same piece of his cape. The experience confirmed in him his devotion to all mankind regardless of their station in life. Martin went on to become patron saint of beggars and outcasts. He was known for his gentleness, his unassuming nature and his ability to bring warmth and light to those in need. At our Lantern Walk this year we will be gathering at Gladstone Nature Park, where we'll begin with hot cider and pumpkin bread before starting the Story and Procession. As dusk falls, children will light their lanterns (turn on led candles!)—handmade in class—and we'll walk together along a well-lit forest pathway. Solar lamps and lanterns will guide the way, creating a magical, glowing atmosphere. As we walk, we'll sing traditional lantern songs, filling the forest with harmony. The peaceful procession encourages reflection and community, as we carry our lanterns through the trees, celebrating the light we hold within us and for each other even in the darkening season. After the Lantern Walk we welcome you to join us for a Community Dinner at Gladstone's Pizza. When you order that evening just say that you are with Treehouse and 15% of sales will come back to Treehouse.

Winter Spiral

December 2nd-5th
Class Gathering TBA
Open all week for independent visiting

This year, we will be celebrating our Winter Spiral in a new way. In years past, our gatherings were disrupted due to widespread illness, and so this season we are choosing a more intimate approach. From December 1st through 5th, the Winter Spiral will be lovingly set up in the Community Room, ready to be experienced throughout the week. Each class will be given a special time to walk the spiral together, and teachers will communicate with families about when their group will gather. The space will also be open during the week for all who wish to step inside—whether to walk the spiral, sit quietly, or simply soak in the peace and sanctity of this tradition. The Winter Spiral is one of the most beautiful celebrations of the year. In the midst of the darkest season, we walk inward along the spiral path, carrying our unlit candle. At the center, we receive the flame—symbolizing light, warmth, and hope—and then we carry that light back outward, placing it along the path for others. Together, the spiral of candles grows brighter, reminding us that even in times of darkness, each of us has the power to bring light into the world. This is a time for reflection, for stillness, and for preparing our hearts for the deep silence of the Winter Solstice. It is also a reminder of the inner light that we each carry, and the way our community grows brighter when we come together. We look forward to sharing this week of beauty and light with you. Sydney will still need volunteers to come help setup on Monday afternoon so please signup for gathering greens or setup if you are able.
