they/them

Hi, I'm Teacher Meg! I am the co-owner, director and head teacher at Wildflower Outdoor Learning Center. I am beyond excited and honored to be welcomed to The Treehouse community as a substitute to help raise nature-loving children.

A little about myself: I identify as non-binary and use they/them pronouns. This can be tricky for littles to understand as I am a female presenting person, so she/her pronouns are also accepted. I was raised in a rural town in Washington and was one of six kids in my family. We grew up playing outside all the time, getting dirty and letting our imaginations guide us. This part of my childhood really guided me to becoming the person I am today.

I hold a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Washington State University and have over 12 years of experience working with children. I have been a teacher at Wildflower for three years now, but my extended experience with kids comes through various other positions. My childcare background includes being a parent to a 10-year-old, nannying, teaching swim lessons and swim team, and leading elementary art projects. I love using my creative thinking to guide my decision-making and problem-solving when it comes to working with kids in the classroom.

When I'm not teaching, you can find me cuddling my cats or outdoors with my family. We enjoy swimming, hiking, foraging, gardening, and planting tons of flowers! You can catch me in and out of the classroom singing and dancing to all music and encouraging the act of silliness. I am most passionate about teaching emotional learning activities, like puppetry, to connect with the kids in class.

I cannot wait to meet you all in the Forest Garden!
